The Customs duties collected at Christchurch on Saturday, July Bth, wore as follows ; Spirits, JJI99 19s Id; tobacco, .£124 11a 6d ; wine, jB!0 13s; tea, .£23 6s ; goods by weight, jEI3 17s Id ; ad valorem, .£l2O 17s. Total, .£503 3s Bd. GRAIN AND PRODUCE. The volume of business during the past week has not been largo. Good sound samples of milling wheat are saleable at up to 5s bat the quantity offering is small. For seed lota a somewhat higher pries can be obtained. _ Feeding wheats are moving off at various prices np to 4s 3d. A small business is doing in flour at 4!ll*io £ll 10s, according to brand. Oats are easier, owing to the decline in Sydney and nniomunerativa rates in Melbourne. A number of parcels have been on offer during the week, but we have not heard of any large transactions. For small parcels for town consumption 3a to 3s 3d has been obtained. Good malting barley still commands full rates, 4s 6d being freely paid for the very few parcels offering ; medium grades are, however, slow of sale, at 3s to 4s according to quality. Potatoes have bees more enquired for, but the comparatively high price asked by holders prevents much business ; no doubt another week or two will see them in demand again. Butter of good quality is very scarce, and Is 2d is easily obtainable for such. Good cheese also meets a fair amount of attention at 7d. Hama and bacon are in ordinary trade request at 7id to Bd.
