[_PBBSS ASSOCIATION TBLEGBAM.] , AUCKLAND, July 8. , The case against Winiata for the murdei i of Edwin Packer was concluded at the Police . J‘>urt to-day. The prisoner was fully committed for trial. Great interest appeared to be evinced in the proceedings, the Court room being crowded all day. The evidence obi* fly related to several conversations with differ nt persons, in which Winiata had admitted having been concerned in the murder, but stated that the crime had actually been committed by a half-caste named Harry, said to have come from the Bay of Islands. .The statements of Clement, Newton, Barlow, and Constable Gillies disclosed materiel facts not already gensrally known. Dufaur reserved Winiata’* defence for the higher Court. In the afternoon Winiata was escorted to Mount Eden gaol to await bis trial. ■
