The Queensland Parliament was opened yesterday by his Excellency the Governor, who in his speech on the occasion announced that proposals had been made by certain syndicates for the construction of a trans-continental railway, which would probably be accepted. The speech further stated that immigration to the colony would be encouraged, and that communications were being exchanged with the Indian Government on tho subject of the emigration- of coolies to Queensland.
