Waxatt Bridge. —The work of erection of this dray bridge is progressing, though the contractors, Messrs Thomas and Hili, have suffered serious inconvenience by the delay in the delivery of the piles, in consequence of the stoppage of the railway traffic at Weka Pass. The bridge is to be entirely of wood, spanning a width of 1776 ft. There will be 192 iron bark piles required in its construction in the forty-seven spans. The piles are to be driven an average depth of 20ft below the water level, and remain about 10ft above the same. The upper structure will be on the truss principle, the top cord running right through. The contract price for the work was £9776 ISs sd.
