COURSING.
PAPANDI COUKSiNG CLUB. This meeting vraa resumed on Wednesday. Mr J. Turner officiated as judge, Mr Spooner being the slipper. A start being made from Yaldhurat about ten o’clock, and the tryst being reached Caller Ou and Sir George were taken to slips. For tho concluding trial of the first ties of tho Puppy Stakes, Sir George, although running lame, led and beat the slut from start to finish, which was indeed a big performance for a lame dog. Tho first ties of the Members’ Plate were commenced by Wizard and Orange Lightning being sent fur hunting. The latter showed speed from tho Mips, but on reaching tho hare the Wizard drew out and took first and second turns, placing the red for two. The Wizard then attempted to kill but fell, when tho hare reached tho fence, and r> decisive win resulted for the briudle. Wsnaka then ran a bye with Lancashire Lass, the black got first turn, after which Wanaka had it all her own way. The second ties of the Puppy Stakes wore then commenced, Como and Colleen Bava being released to a good slip ; tho former led, took first and second turns, and kept possession, but the hare circling ;tho Colleen raced from the inside, but failed to reach tho hare before she eaoaped. Sir George and Oomo were next on tho card, but, as both were lame, their owners agreed to divide the stakes, which was a wise decision.
Wizard and ‘Wanaka were then slipped for the final round of the Members' Plate, to a fine sobo and a good slip. The Wizard led by three lengths, and wont for the second and third turn, placing Wanaka tor two, the brir.dla scoring rapidly. After a time the white got possession, and raced puss to cover, thus making a clever win for the brindlo. members’ plate. First Ties. Wizard beat Orange Lightning Wanaka ran a bye Final Course. Mr E. S. B. Bell’a bd d Wizard, by Legerdemain—Magic, beat Mr E. L. Wagner’s w bo s Wanaka by Azamat—Rimu, and won the stake BT. LEGEB STAKES. First Ties, continued. Sir George beat Caller Ou Second Ties. Como beat Colleen Bawn Final. Mr A, E. Sandford’s £ w s Como, by Brigade —Pauline, and Mr E. S. B. Bell’a bd d Sir George, by Balobristio IT.—Keatleaa, divided the stake without the latter running bis bye The result wan rather disastrous to the bookmakers, one of whom expressed Lis dis. content in no measured terms, but the owners of the doge were satisfied with the decisions of the judge.
