Drunkenness—For a first offence a man was cautioned and discharged. A man found drunk while in charge of a horse and cart was fined £l, or forty-eight hours’ imprisonment. Mary Kennedy, alias Wallace, received a similar penalty. Alfred Parker, for being drunk and resisting the police, was fined 10j on each charge, iu default, to receive the usual term of imprisonment. Misbllanhous. —J. O. Sheppard, for allowing a chimney to take fire, was fined 10s.—George Hyde, for having no light on a hoarding, was fined 5s. —Caleb Lee and James Bheard were charged with fighting in Hereford street on June 15th. Lee, who was the aggressor, was fined £2 for fighting and £1 for using obscene language. The case against Bheard wae dismissed. —W. Roberts was fined 10s for furious riding.—Thomas Smart, for allowing a horse to wander, was fined 10s. —Charles Benjamin, for keeping an unregistered dog was fined 10a.—Hugh O’Neil, in arrears £3 5s with his payment for the maintenance of bis children at Burn ham, did not appear when called on. A warrant was ordered to be issued for his arrest.—A similar case against John Horn was adjourned till August 28th.—Tfaos. Coleman, in arrears £l4 12s in the same manner, paid £1 4s. and was ordered to pay 15s weekly till the debt is liquidated.—A case against J. Percy for creating a nuisance by burning leather on his promises in Colombo street was adjourned till August 24tb, to bo abandoned if the offence is notrapeated.—W. Ouddon was fined 10* for allowing a closetpan to overflow, and 10a for not properly draining his premises iu Tuam street West. —W. J. White for not having proper drainage, and B. Skiffins for not clearing away oyster shells, were each fined 10s.— Several other oases of nuisance were adjourned to give time for aba'ement.Jonu Hammil pleaded guilty to trespassing in pursuit of jgame on the propertied of Jas, Ho mes and Jas. Wilson, at Halswell, on April 7th. Ho was fined £2, and £l, with costs, for giving a false name and address. — Fred. Jaggcr, for trespassing with dog and gun on the property of Wm, Boag, at Feudaltown, on Juno 6th, and for using an unlicensed dog, was fined £2 and costs. —Wm. Bandoll, for a similar offence at Cashmere, was Sued £1 10s and costs. In all these trespass oases Mr Thomas, on behalf of the Acclimatisation Society, prosecuted. —John Baile, for illegally rescuing six horses while they were being driven to the pound by Ann Fleshbourne, at Templeton, on Juno 18th, was fined £5, with costa of Court, solicitor s j fee, and expenses of one witness.
