Departmental Estimates. These include the following alterations : Tho rewards for seizures and convictions under Customs Aot are incroased by £200; militia pensions and allowances are increased by £SO: civil service pensions and gratuities are increased by £IOO ; military pensions and allowances are decreased by £300; Supreme Court Judges' superannuation is decreased £SOO ; Ellesmere, &c, Trust under the Railways Construction Aot, 1878, is increased £550 j rewards, convictions, &c, under the Beer Duty Act increased £SO ; preparing jury list increased £SO. Legislative Council—Otiairman of Committees increased £99 ; clerk increase by £52; clerk assistant increased £63; second ditto increased £3O; interpreter increased £3O; messenger increased £'s. Total increase for the Council, £289. |

House of Bepreeentatives—Chairmen of Publio Petitions and Native Affairs Committees, each £IOO (last year nil), and no other increases.

General Legislative—Members' expensc-s increased £1470; binding and printing decreased £IOO ; night watchman increased £l. The following expenses of last year do not reappear—Bonus to messengers £2O ; bonus to " Hansard" staff £l5O ; repairs, Sco., kitchen, Bellamy's, £138; gratuity to the widow of the late librarian £300; fencing tennis ground £3O ; fencing Parliamentary grounds £2OO ; matting and linoleum £l2O.

COMPARATIVE ESTIMATES. The comparative estimates for tbe various departments are as follows :

The following items amortg thedetails are worthy of notice :—Expense of West Coast Royal Commission, £4OOO j bonue for the enoouragemetit of looal industries, £IOOO ; expenses connected with observation of transit of Venus, £SOO ; land for Lunatic Asylum, Auckland, £6OO ; purchase of land adjoining Ministerial residence, Tinakori, £lls ; Wellington, £I6OO ; repairs Parliamentary buildings, £2500. The total details comprise very few changes, and th?se mostly are of very small extents, ai may be seen from the close similarity between this year's and the last year's votes. CANTEBBUBY ESTIMATES. Lunatic Asylum—Steward, decreased £SO; clerk, inoreased £SO ; attendants' salaries, h:croa?cd £SO. In all general expenses, £650 of nn increase. Kaiapoi Magistrate—lncrease, £IOO, less £25 dec-anted travelling allowance. Grn,lu : .ty to ex ohief warder, Lyttelton, £2OO. There is a small increase in some of the pottal, telegraphic, and Customs salaries. Collector of Customs, inorfased £SO; Deputy. Cornmi'jsioner of Stamps, inoreased £25; Land Rsgistrar, decreased £SO. Etp»jses of Burnham School are increased £155. Ohristohurch Girls' School Decreased, £2OO.

Locomotive Supsrintendent, Hurunui-Bluff railway, increased £100; small increases iu othct salaries.
