CONSTANTINOPLE, June 8.

Negotiations are still proceeding in regard to to the proposed conference on the Egyptian question. The Porte is adopting a firm attitude of objection to the proposal, on the ground that its mission to Egypt will not succeed in effecting everything that is necessary for the settlement of the crisis.

ROME, June 8.

The funeral of Garibaldi took place today, at Caprera. The ceremony was of an imposing and impressive character, and was witnessed by many thousands of people.
