CHRISTCHURCH. Friday, June 9.
(Before J Ollivier, Esq., R.M., and B. Westenra, Esq., J P.] Dbunkinness. —For a first offence, a man who, when arrested drunk, had £33 in his possession, was fined 10s. John Nixon, suffering from tho effects of drink, was sent to gaol for a week to be medically treated Elizabeth Rennet was fined £l, or in default forty-eight hours’ imprisonment with hard labour.
Lakcbkibs. —Mary Ann Creamer, charged with stealing a pair of stays, valued at £1 6s, the property of M. A. W. Sharland, was, on the application of Mr Lougbnan, who appeared for her, remanded till to-morrow morning, Thomas Bobinson, a boy sged about fourteen, pleaded guilty of stealing a “ Canadian gold” locket, valued at 7s 6d, from the stall of A. Edwards at the Exhibition. The Bench commented on the temptations thrown in the way of people like prisoner by the way in which goods are exposed. Prisoner was strongly cautioned, a conviction was recorded against him, and he was ordered to be detained till the rising of the Court.
