CUSTOMS BEVENUB. The following is a comparative statement of the Cuatoma »revenue received at Christchnrch in the months of May, 1881 and 1882 : 1881. 1882.
GEAIN AND PEODUCE, The wheat market continues in much the same state as last reported, good sound milling samples being worth up to 4s 91. and tuacau a (somewhat higher figure. Fowls’ wheat is in short supply at 3s 6d to 3a 93 for ordinary to good. A fair demand exists for flour at jGU 10a f.o.b. for best town brands. Oats continue quiet with no immediate prospect of improvement, and holders seem disposed to wait and spe the effect of cold weather on consumption bbfore selling. Barley of good malting _ quality continues in demand at up to 4s 61, with only mnall parcels offering. Medium samples are more difficult to dispose of at from 3s 9d to 4s Potatoes continne in very active request at from 37a 6d to 40a, according to station delivered at It is said even higher figures have been obtained, hut this requires confirmation. Good butter moves off freely at 10il, f 0.b., and cheese at sd. New cure hams and bacon are now ready, and the quality is said to be excellent.
