It is further announced that information has been received that the Egyptians had commenced constructing earthworks around Alexandria, and that the Government were in consequence consulting with Admiral Sir Beauchamp Seymour, Commander of the united squadron, as to the coarse to be pursued in regard thereto. CONSTANTINOPLE, June L The Turkish Commission of Inquiry into the state of affairs in Egypt leaves to-day for Alexandria on board one of the Turkish ironclads. NEW YORK, Juno 1. Fully 50,000 ironworkers are now on strike at Chicago, New York, and other cities in the States.

Intelligence is to hand from Chicago that a largo body of iron workers, who aro on strike, boarded a train and severely maltreated a number of non-strikers. The disturbance was of a serious character, and was only suppressed by police intervention.
