Stocks of the latter are at present in a few hands, and fairly hold at high quotations. Port wine, of; medium quality, has been in request Sherries are neglected. Claret, though tmustal at this season, has been in some (to and principally for from low to medium kinds. Tobaccos are a trifle easier, owing to recent accessions to stocks; fancy sorts, however, continue scarce, and fetch high prices. Sugars have had fair business at X3l 10a for finest white crystals ; other uortj moot with little attention, and continue toe high to lead to any extensive business. A email trade has been done in^ tinned fish, principally salmon, which, being iu short supply, is readily quitted at 8s 6d. Sardines are unobtainable under 10s for best brands. Salt has been more freely quitted than formerly, and that at better rat as. Kerosene, though quoted low, fails to have any extensive business, stocks and shipmeats being beyond requirements. Dried fruits are easier, sales of currants being reported at 54 Eleme raisins remain at 7jd; muscatels continue scares and dear. Fencing wire and standards have lately seen good business. Gal vanised iron has been pushed off at applying rates, but without leading to any extensive sales.
