In the House of Commons to-day, Mr Gladstone, in reply to a question, confirmed the statement which has been current that it had been suggested by the French Government that a conference of European Powers should be hold for the settlement of the present Egyptian crisis. The Premier further stated that the Saltan was sending an Imperial Commission to Egypt on board the Turkish ironclads which are about to leave for Alexandria. Consols, IOOf ex div. New Zealand securities are unchanged. The total reverse in the Bank of England in notes and bullion is £12,500,000, being £BOO,OOO less than the reserve of last week. The Bank rate of discount remains at 3 per cent., and the market at 2£. The markets for colonial breadstaffs and tallow are without quotable change.
