The Union steamship Company s s.s. Penguin arrived yesterday at 6 pm. from Akaroa and Dunedin, and left for Wellington and Northern ports at an early hour this morning. Recently a good many complaints have been made by shipmasters of the peculiar manner in •which their little odds and ends, so to speak, disappear from their vessels between sunset and Bunnae. The Master of the Bells has reported losing Lis signal halyards and other small matters from the deck of his vessel, and the ropj lines on the life buoys around the wharves have in some instances been stolen.
