There aeems to be something wanting about the arrangements of the Harbor Board in th«) matter of acquiring correct information regarding the condition of the Victoria Channel, if the foflowing faota as related to na (" Otago Daily Times ") are to be relied on. The brig Emily hua lately landed a cargo of produce for Queensland at Dnnedin wharf. Before doing so, the mastor inquired of the Harbor Board officials to what dej>th he ceald safely load. Ho was teld to 12ft 6in. He loaded his vessel to a draught of 12ft 3in. Yesterday, while the brig waß being Ukon down the channel by a tug, she a«ddanly atuuk on o mudbank, and on sounding ahead of her it was found there was only 10ft of water, though the T683el was afloat aft. The tug had accordingly to turn round and tow her baek to Lunodin stern foremost. An attempt is to be made to-day to tako her down the ©ld channel. , THE WAIPA.
