Thomas William Tait was brought up on remand to-day, charged with embezzling Government money while he hud been employed as goods clerk at the Invercargill railway station. A further remand was granted, a material witness being absent. The auditor has not yet completed his examination of the books, jbut it is rumored that ho has already discovered defalcations amounting to more than £IOOO.
