In the cricket match which is now proceeding at Brighton between the Australians and Sussex eleven, the former have concluded their first innings for a total of 6-13 runs. May 20. In the cricket match Australia v Sussex, at Brighton, the latter in their second innings scored 193 runs, and the Australians thus won the match by ore innings and 355 runs. Palmer and Garrett bowled splendidly for the Australians. The ‘‘ Times ” to-day in a loading article hails Australian cricketers to England, and says that their success should stimulate Englishmen to improve their play. The following are the remainder of tho scores of the Australians in the Sussex match; — Murdoch, b - - - 286 Horan, c - .51 Macdonald, b - - 11 Gillen, c and b - 74 Jones, c - - - 5 Garrett, b - . - 9 Palmer b • - 48 Spoffortb, c - - - 8 Murdoch batted splendidly for his 286, and only gave one chance during the innings.
