Sami. Wade, an omnibus driver, was committed for trial for endangeting the life of a lady by reckless driving. At tho Synod meeting on the 10th Mr G. R. Dibba notified a motion that the holding of fancy fairs for Church funde is not calculated to further tha cause of religion. Mary Gary was tried at the Criminal Court on tha 10th for tho murder of a child at Flagstaff hill on the 2nd March. She was found guilty, and sentenced to death. Burglaries were committed on the 10th at the New Town and Macdonald Town railwoy stations. Tho thieves took £35. Tho strike at Newcastle still continues. Tho Oreswiok Miners’ Association, Victoria, sent £SO to support the men on strike. Forbes’ lectures have been crowded. The Highland Society banquotted him yesterday. Sir John Hay was chairman. A meeting of the Institute of Surveyors appointed a committee to arrange a conference of representatives of tho profession from New Zealand and other colonies.
MELBOURNE, May 13. The sale of Crown lands recently at the County Court offices, Swanston street, fetched £20,000.

The ship Sauthesk, with 390 immigrants, arrived in Moraton Bay. Bayard, tho British consul of Noumea, advised tho Queensland Government he had forwarded the surviving seamen from the labor sohooner Ohanoe to Brisbane.
