Daspite the unfavourable ’ weather, these snorts were commenced shortly before two o’clock. At tho hour appointed, viz., halfpast one, the rain was falling first, and an adjournment was made to the large room in the pavilion, where the Burnham Industrial School band, under the leadership of Mr Bowles, performed several selections of music. The rain having ceased, the first event on the card was called on, viz , the 120 yards foot race, for which six had entered, and resulted as follows ; 120 Yards Handicap; run in heats.
