MAGISTERIAL.
CHRIST CHURCH. Friday, May 19. I Before O. Whitefoord, Esq., R.M., and F. Hobbs, Esq , J. P.] Embezzlement —F. H. Williams was charged with embezzling the sum of £229, the property of the New Zealand Government Railway department. Sergeant Mason applied for a remand, in order to allow time for the department to prepare the case : prisoner had only the night before been arrested. Prisoner, who was not represented by counsel, made no objeo'ion, and be was remanded till Friday, May 26th.
Alleged Fraud in Bankruptcy.—The hearing of the second of five informations laid against Nathaniel Yale, wheelwright, by Mr C, W. Fisher, a creditor, was commenced, but, after hearing the evidence of the Begistrar of the Supreme Court and of Mr T. B. Craig, trustee in the estate, was, in the absence of two witnesses, adjourned. The first of the series had been heard and dismissed on May 12th.
