Stinohen Peter Hargis, the levanter, wa* adjudicated a bankrupt by the Supreme Court. The National Bank was the petitioning creditor, and loses £S6S. A similar order was made respecting Ohartin, who took away from £3OOO to £4OOO. Three children named Cummings, and whose fother is in Dunedin, were committed to the Industrial Home, and ordered to be brought up in the Boman Cat e'ic faith. The children presented a pitiable spectacle. Mr J. A. Tole, M.H.E., has recovered from a severe illness, and will be able to attend his parliamentary dutis next week. WELLINGTON. May 17. The enquiry into the Lads bird-Wakatn collision was concluded this evening. The Court held that the captain was responsible for the accident for not stopping the engines sooner, and ordered him to pay costs, £lO. The engineer was held blameless. DUNEDIN, May 17. The Mosgiel Woollen Factory Company, m order to supply the increased demands, have leased the Kaikorai woollen mills.

iho inquest on the child which died nnder chloroform over & week ago, was concluded to-day. The jury found that it was a ease of death by misadventure, and that no blame attached to Dr. Burns.
