The first meeting of the season was commenced on Wednesday last, shortly after nine o’clock on the estate of Messrs Maxwell and Mathias, Racecourse Hill. A large number of coursing men availed themselves of the Tuesday night’s train, so as to ensure an early start, whilst many others preferred to wait the morning’s express. Sport wag commenced by Mr Cassidy’s fawn dog Christopher Oolombus and Mr D. O’Brien’s red and white deg Obscure, being led to the slipper for the first course ef the Derby, Appended will bo found the results of the day’s coursing : The Castsebuiit Derby, for an unlimited number of dog puppies, whelped on and after July Ist, 1830. Eleven acceptors at sgs each. First Round. Columbus beat Obscure Grand Flaneur beat Claacbristio Buaaley beat Resolute Taraban beat hough Busy Boy boat Welcome Boy Liberator ran a bye Tuh Canterbury Oaxs, for an unlimited number of slut puppies whelped on and alter July Ist, 1880. Nine acceptors at sgs each.
First Round. Courtship boat Obey Gitofla beat Obedient Beatrice boat Lure Vashti beat Flora Mclvor Thk Christchurch Btakbb, for an unlimited number of all-aged doga at sgs each. First Round. Charlie beat Wisard Starlight beat Liana.
