fPBBSS ASSOCIATION TBLEOBAM ] NAITEB, May 15. Sergeant Mahon has been dismissed the police force on the ground that hia letter to Sergeant Kidd, previously telegraphed throughout tho colony, was a breach of the Constabulary Regulations. In that letter, Mahon urged Kidd not to oppose Mr Ormond in his candidature for Waipawa on tho ground that Mr Ormond had promised to use his itilluonco to got removed tho regulation prohibiting the police from voting at Parliamentary elections. Mr Bryce held this to be a breach of discipline. Sergeant Mahon replied that ho not voted, nor attempted to influence the votes of others, and he submitted that an expression of opinion in a private letter was not a breach of the regulations. If it wore so held, however, he offered to resign. This was not permitted, and he has been dismissed the force.
