(peb punas assooiation.J WELLINGTON, May 16. Walter Wiltshire Vause, who shot himself last night, died at two this morning. A nautical Court inquiry into the collision between the Ladybird and Wakatu is proceeding. WAITOTARA, May 16. On Sunday morning, at four o’clock, a Native named Poharama Takorangi, belonging to Haipo, stabbed his wife and a man named Wini Poharama. Ho is now supposed to be lurking about the township, and steps ■will be taken to secure him, and prevent the recurrence of a similar nature. Poharama and the Native whom he stabbed are both chiefs. The wife received one stab, which is said to be a dangerous one, and tho man was stabbed in four places—on the right side, cheat, breast, and left loin. Little hopes are entertained of his recovery. Poharama'a house, which was destroyed, was a new one, and it is believed ho set fire to it while suffering from delirium tremens. The police are out searching for him.
