At the usual sitting of the Waste Lands Board, held at Christchnrch on Thursday, May 11th, sales were made a 3 follows : —Ordinary : Ashley, 4a 3r 2 Ip; Selwyn. 42a Or 27p ; Akaroa, 14a? Aahbnrton, 5a Ir 22p; Geraldino. "Waimate. 2*a lr 9p. Total acreage sold, 110 a 2r 22p. Total cash received, .2221 5s 6d. Enfunds on account of former purchasOß were made in the amount of £143 15s. GEAIN AND PEODUCE. The transactions of the pant week have not been very numerous, nor has any change of noto taken place. Wheat remains without quotablo variation, several parcels having changed hands at lost week's rates of 4s 3d to 4s 6d, according to placs of delivery. Choico_ lots of Tuscan for seed purposes are commencing to be inquired for at higher rates. Flour con-inuo3 in trade demand at £ll 103 for town brands, and a shade lesß for country. _ Oats are decidedly easier, and sales more difficult to effect. At auction during tho week several large lines had to be passed in, the only business done being a couple of small lots at 3a 3d,a cab proprietor being the purchaser. Barley does not appear to improve in demand, and sales are consequently -difficult to make, except for good qn lity, -which is easily placed at uoto 4s 6d. Ordinary is completely neglected. Grass seed continues inactive, it being now between the seasons. Potatoes huve been in good request, and a fair business has been done at 30s to 32s 6d at country stations. The quality is said to be very goad, and the yield from two to three tons per acre above that given in the agricultural statistics. Dairy produce is without quotable alteration. COMMERCIAL TELEGEAM3. Pearl barley has hardened £1 per ton, and £2l > has been paid for the best quality. A shipment of 120 bags of maize per Taiaroa was sold for 6s 6d. Oats are firmer owing to the short stocks, and are quoted at 3a 9d to 4<j. Barley is firmer, but the demand is small It iB quoted at 4s 6d to ss. Potatoes are well supplied, and prices are the same as laat week, though the market ia weaker. The Waikato farmers have successfully competed with those of southern districts, tn w om we have to a great extent been indebted for supplies. A large quantity brought this week 40a to 50a per ton.
