The new ocean steamship, invented by Captain Horefond. of the Cunard steamer Batavia, is being built near New York by tho American Quick Transit Steamship Company, of Boston. Sho is composed of wood, has a tnrtlo back deck, no masts, and nothing on decfc except a pilot-house, ventilators, and the Bmoke-pipe. The length is 15! Jft., breadth of beam is 22ft., tie depth of hold is 16Jft., the draught forward is 51ft., and aft 10J ft. The capacity is 512 tons. She will bave three screws ; tho main one of tour blades, and of such pitch as to bo capable of a speed of 30 knots an hour. The others will be fitted in the stern, behind the plates, and will be used in case of accident, -when the plates will be used to steer with. The engines, boiler, and machinery, are entirely of new designs, and capable of developing enormous power. The steataer will be named the Meteor. The inventor saya she will revolutionise ocean ataamship construction. ABBIVAIi OF THE TAMERLANE.
