MELBOURNE, May 3. The premises in Swanston street, occupied by Mr Nimbs as a shop and residence, has been placed in quarantine by the health officer, as it is believed Mrs Nimbs is suffering from smallpox. Considerable excitement has been caused by the reported fresh outbreak of variola. A caucus of Constitutionalists was held yesterday, at which it was decided to support the Government against Mr Berry’s no-confidence motion. Ministers now expect a majority of fifteen. Intelligence is to hand that the barque Garstang, 301 tons, has become a total wreck at Amoy, China. The officers and crew were saved.
