Total, .£lsOl 12s Bd. Dnrkg tho past week there has been but little alteration observable in our markets, which continue as qniet as before. The arrival of the Waitangi and St. Leonards, both with large cargoes from l ondon, will relieve the wants for several needed items. Sugars have been freely dealt in. Whites being in large supply, show no improvement in quotations, the best quality bsi:jg obtainable at .£32. An auction Bale of Poravian sugar was held in Lyttelton on the 25th inst. There was a moderate attendance, and biddings were cautiously made. The whole lot offered was disposed of at from J£2\ 10s for brown crystals to £26 10s for brewer's crystal?. Teas have been forced off at low rates to reduce stocks, and medium quality in half chests have • fonnd buyers at J4d. But little business has been done in tobaccoes, which continue firm at previous quotations. Dried fruits are much easier, and low rates are acceptsd for currants and Eleme raisins ; muscatels continue scarce. Sa'mon has had good inquiry, being in short supply. Sardines have been quitted in small lots, the high figure required to cover cost limiting sales. Kerosene has been offered at low rates without leading to much business, stocks both here and in neighboring ports being large buyers are disinclined to operate. A good business has been done in champagne of fine dry quality; sales are also noticed of Krug's, but at low rates on account of heavy shipments. Port wine of medium quality has had some attention, and sales are noted at good figures. Scotch whiskey has been freely quitted, principally of best old qnality ; other sorts do not seem to take. Dunville's Irish continues in favor and maintains steady Dales. Ale in bottle in good condition being rather scarce has had some inquiry at improved rates. Geneva in case continues low in stock, but doubtless the shipments just to hand will relieve immediate wants. Galvanised iron has not had much business. Fencing wire has had more attention, and being in short supply commands an advance.
