New Zealand securities stand at the following quotations:—Five per Cent. 10-40 Loan, 105 ; Five per Cent. 1889 Loan, 106; Four-and-Half per Cent., 1879-1904 Loan, 103£. Adelaide wheat, ex store, unchanged, 555; New Zealand ditto, 525. Adelaide flour, ex store, has declined to 375. Galvanised iron, 26 guage, remains at £l7 15s. Bast Sydney copra has declined to £ls 10s. April 26. The Great RaceThe race for the Two Thousand Guineas was run at Newmarket to-day, and resulted in a victory for Shotover ; Quick Time, 2; Marden, 3. The Lata Dr. Darwin. The fnneral of the late Dr. Darwin took place at Westminster Abbey today in the presence of a large cencourse of people, including many notable persons from all parts of the Kingdom. 'ihe Irish Land Act In the House of Commons this afternoon, Mr J. E. Radmond, Home Ruler for New Ross, moved for leave to introduce a Bill for amending the Irish Land Act. The motion was opposed by Mr Gladstone, who promised that the Government would, during the present session, introduce a Bill for dealing with the non-payment of arrears of rent in Ireland. Mr Redmond agreed, after some further remarks, to accept the Premier's assurance in a friendly spirit, and the debate was then adjourned. AUSTRALIAN. [betjteb's telegbams.] MELBOURNE, April 27. The Address in Reply DebateThe amendment to the address in reply to the Governor's speech, expressing disapproval of the administration of public departments during the recess, which was proposed by Mr Berry in the Legislative Assembly last night, and which is tantamount to a vote of want of confidence, is not expected to be carried.
