Thbaxbk RoTAli.—The repetition of the " Pirates of Penzance" on Saturday evening drew a crowded house in every part. Miss Bees, who was in splendid voice, sang the charming waltz song " Poor wandering one" excellently, and was enthusiastically encored. She was also very good in tho second act, in " Leave me not alone," and throughout the opera she sang with both fidelity and success. Miss Maggie Moore, her many admirers will regret to learn, was suffering from very severe indisposition, so much so that any one not possessing the indomitable pluck aad go which is :her marked characteristic would have broken down. Miss Moore however struggled most gallantly through the part, though it was evident that her powers were taxed to the utmost. The severe cold from which she is suffering rendered her unablo in some parts to give her musio with that ■uccess which marked the first production of the opera, still the rendition was, under the circumstances, a very excellent one. The various daughters of the Major-Goneral fulfilled their portion of the work of the evening excellently, the combination of the drees colours in the first act being exceedingly pretty. Mr Beaumont, who was in exoellent voice, both sang and acted the part of Frederick capitally, infusing into the histrionio part of the character an amount of go which made it moat enjoyable. Mr Vernon's Major-General is throughout a very artistic performance, and he sings tho wellknown song with great humor. A remarkable transformation, by the way, took place during his singing of this number almost comparable with that of " Faust" in the first act of that opera. During Mr Vernon's energetic delivery of one of the veraea he lost his moustaohe. This had tho peculiar effect of transforming him at onos to a young man, at which the audience roared with laughter. Signor Yerdi Bang the music of the Pirate jßCirig excellently, but he was somewhat too tame to make a decided hit in the part, which requires considerable aoting vigor to render it a iuocess. The soenery was deservedly warmly .applauded, and tho final tableau is certainly well worth seeing, alike from the artistic grouping of the ladies concerned and the general idea of the whole. The opera will be repeated to-night, whioh, it may be remarked, ia the last night but one of the company here. Acknowledgment.—The master of the Orphanage at Lyttelton desires to acknowledge iho receipt of £i from Mr J. Blake
