The ease of Roderick McLean, the would-be assassin of the Queen, was to-day again brought before a Special Commission sitting at Reading. After full enquiry tbe prisoner was found “ Not Guilty ” of the charge of treason, on the ground that he was not in a sane condition when ho committed the act. McLean will consequently be detained during her Majesty’s pleasure. Mr ParnellIt is announced that Mr Parnell will return from France on Monday next, the 24th, when he will surrender to his parole. New Political FeatureA Bill providing that what may bo defined as necessary expenres of election to Parliament should bo charged to rates of the borough, county, or district in which the election takes place was read a second time in the House of Commons to-day. The measure has been introduced by a private member, but receives the support of tho Government. ObituaryThe death is announced to-day of Sir Henry Cole, tbe well known author and administrator, formerly director of South Kensington Museum, aged 74. (Night). Colliers’ StrikeAn extensive strike of colliers has occurred at Warexham, Denbyahiro, Wales. The locked out miners to-day in great numbers besieged the offices of the officials of various mines, and the latter only effected their escape from tho attack of the mob with difficulty. The military stationed in the neighborhood had to he called out before the disturb, auce could bo suppressed.
The N-S-W- Premier. Sir Henry Parkes was, this evening, entertained at a banquet by the Right Hon. W. E. Gladstone. A largo number of distinguished persons were invited to meet the New South Wales Premier.
