Mr Oliver also being present—relative to the desirability of urging the Government to convey the necessary lands and endowments to enable the work of constructing the dock to be proceeded with. It was stated that a dock 600 ft long was estimated to cost £IOO 000. After discussion, the following resolution was agreed to—- “ That this meeting stand adjourned for two months, to allow of time for tho now dredge to be placed on the bar, and the result of ito workieg ascertained.” It was explained that strong moorings to place the dredge on tho bar would be hare in tho course of a week.
