Mr Wearing moved the offer bo declined, as the rent offered was nothing like adequate Mr fcmith seconded. He would bo in favor of accepting a moderate rental if there were certain undertakings to improve, keep the promises in repair and insure. The motion was agreed to. Mr Joyce, solicitor, appeared as representing Mr Goodman in reference to a disputed agreement between Mr A. Thompson and hia client, in which was included the qae-.tion of the rent which the Board had agreed to accept. He stated Goodm n had recently brought an action against Thompson to recover tho amount of rent agreed for, but the Bench had decided against him, and ho now asked tho Board, as its agreement which Goodman had taken over from I hompaon was bad, they should grant him a lease in respect of the rent which the Court had awarded. Goodman has spent £4O in improvements, and about £35 in endeavoring to obtain an enforcement of the agreement which tho Board supposed to exist. A number of letters wore read on the point, and the opinion of members seemed to be that the terms of a letter from Mr Braddell for the reserve ought to be enforced, in which he,’as tho leasee agreed to pay £5 a year as rent in lieu of carrying out conditions for improvements—the original rent being 33s a year. After a brief discussion, Mr Wearing moved, Mr Hurae seconded —“That Mr Goodman be charged 33s a year up to 1892, the value of improvements to be not less than £2OO, and the buildings to be insured ” Curried. After passing some routine business, the Heard adjourned.
