' The schooner Jessie remains on the Waimakariri beaoh, five lengths nearer the entrance and the channel from the position in which the vessel stranded. On Saturday the hands at the •work cf getting her off found a leak from a broken plank as the stern post, and it waß feared that the garboard streak was also damaged. Capt. Dunsford, marine surveyor, hopea to be able to get the vessel afloat again with the adoption of the necessary appliances. The tides ore about at the neaps, and till thesprißgs set in so as to assist in canting the Jessie's bead_ to seaward, vary little can be done beyond finding the leaks and repairing same. Beyond the leakß the vessel ia intact. With reference to the report of the inquiry, the lettera telegraphed asking dranght of water were L. N. D._, which explanation we make in justice to the pilot.
