Thb Licensed Victuallers. —The Canterbury Licensed Victuallers’ Association, on the I2th instant, through their secretary, informed Mr B. D. Thomas, who for a number of years acted as their solicitor, that on April 6th last, at their annual meeting, a resolution was carried “ That the office of a retained solicitor be dispensed with,” and that his services expired on that date. The report of the meeting did not mention the passing of such a resolution, and Mr Thomas, the person chiefly interested, wo believe, received no previous intimation that the association contemplated such a change. It seems proper that the members of the association who were not present at the meeting should be made aware of the fact that the office of solicitor to the association has been abolished, and that"if t ley wish to be represented at any future meeting of the licensing committees, they should instruct their own solicitors to appear for them, so that their interests may be protected ; and it is only fair to Mr Thomas that the public generally should be made aware that he is no longer identified with the interests of the Licensed Victuallers' 1 Association.
