CHRISTCHURCH. SATtJBrAY, Apbil 15. fßetore E. Beethnm, Esq., R.M.J DbUNKENHESS— Thos. 801 l was charged with being drunk and disorderly at the Railway Station, and with having assaulted Constable Kelly while in the execution of his duty. Constable Kelly, whose face was badly disfigured, deposed that prisoner had been banging about the Railway Station drunk for the last few days. He had been put off the premises several times. On F riday he was removed twice, and going back a third time was arrested. Constable Kelly was placing him temporarily in the porter s room, when prisoner suddenly struck him twice in the face, producing the injuries shown The constable by the assault was rendered unfit for duty. The prisoner said he had been drunk and knew nothing about it. He was sentenced to two months’ imprisonment with hard labor, and ordered to pay the medical expenses in the case Harriet Batcock. for being drunk and having used obscene language in Gloucester street, was fined 10s, or in default forty-eight hours’ impri onrrent.—For a first offence, a man was fined os, or in default twenty four hours’ imprisonment.
