GRAIN AND PRODUCE. Business has been quiet during the past week, and what little has been transacted has been at slightly lower rates. Wheat is not nearly so eagerly inquired for, as buyers appear to have covered their tenuago engagements, and are not anxious to go into stock at present high prices, sellers on the other hand do not evince any anxiety to sell at lower rates. Prices range frem 4s to 4a sd, according to quality and place of delivery. Millers have advanced the price of flour 10s per ton. The demand has not. however, improved to any groat extent. Oats continue firm at 3a to 3s 3d for ordinary trade purposes, whilst fer export there is almost nothing doing. No improvement is noticeable in barley ; ordinary samples are very difficult to dispose of, but really good meets with ready buyers at 4s. Grass seeds continue quiet, and are likely to remain so for some months. Potatoes are commencing to be offered, but there does not appear to be much disposition to operate, buyers having a lively recollection of the disastrous results of the past two seasons’ operations, added to which there is an almost entire absence of enquiry from usual outlets. Dairy produce is in good demand at late rates.
