VOLUNTEER REVIEW.
[PBBSS ASSOCIATION TBLKSBAH.] WANGANUI, April 11
The night attack by the Wanganni Rifles, City Rifles and Naval Brieade, commanded by Captain Hutchinson, wa3 a great success. They attacked the cavalry camp, which they took completely by surprise, and were declaied victors by Mr.jor Pitt. Ibis morning a sham fight took place in which the Wanganui Kifles, the City Rifles, and the Naval Brigade were to be the attacking party. The H battery Nelson Artillery, the Nelson City Rifles, the Rtoko (Nelson) Rifles, the Waimea (Nelson) Rifleß, the Nelson Naval Brigade, the Patea Bifles, and the two Cavalry corp", the Alexandra and Wairoas were the defenders. Captain Watt, of the Wanganui liifles, was in command of the attacking party, and the home forces were under the command of Major Pitt. Captain Watt took up his position, and finally drove the defending party back to their quarters, when a truce was Bounded and terms arranged. The attendance of the public at the Bham _ fight was thin, as there had been no publicity given of the hour. A grand review was afterwards held, which was throughout a most brilliant Bnecess. Thora were between 40C0 and 5000 on the ground, the grand stand and the course being mors densely packed than ever before. _ The great feature of the review was the brilliant charges made by the cavalry, who charged almost upon the infantry both at file firing audio squares. The woather was fine.
