THE EXHIBITION.

The railway authorities have intimated to Messrs Joubert and Twopeny that a large number of oases containing exhibits are now lying in the railway sheds at Lyttelton. These cannot be forwarded owing to the owr.ers or agents having failed to pajs entries. Exhibitors are earnestly requested to attend to their goods, and have thorn brought into the Exhib tion building at once. The walls of the speoial art gallery have been colored to a pale green tint, the stenoilling is being rapidly proceeded with, and the work of hanging the pioturos will commence tomorrow. The work of flooring the conoert room is also progressing satisfactorily. The fernery is also nearly completed, the ferns being planted with every regard to effect. Messrs 8. P. and T. Andrews are very busy with the grand entrance to the special art gallery, the first coat of plaster being applied to-day. The various heads of the Government departments and the members of the General Assembly have all been invited by the promoters to attend at the Exhibition opening ceremony on Easter Monday—the tickets were sent to Wellington, with a request that they might be forwarded to tho respeotivo addresses of the members, &c. Messrs Joubert and Twopeny wish it to be known, as in their ignorance of eaoh member's address, the only course open to them was to send all to Wellington. The exhibits from tho various sohoola of the North Canterbury district will take up a large space. The East Ohristchuroh School exhibits were noticed laßt week as being in roadites"?. Several others have yet to come to hand.
