The Customs duties collected at Christ" church on Thursday, March 3)th, were as follows:—Spirits, .£BS 4s ; cigarettes, .£6 12s; wine, £l3 18s ; sugar, £6O 19s lOd; tea, £32 4a lOd; goods by weight, £8 15s 7j; ad valorem, £52 Is. Total, £249 15s 3d. At the usual sitting of the Waste Lands Board, hold at Christchurch on Thursday, March 30th, sales were made as follows: Ordinary—Selwyn, 3a 2r Op ; Akaroi, 3a 3r 8p ; Ashburton, 47a 3r 29p ; Geraldine, 13a Ir 24p ; Waimato, 17a Or Op. Deferred payments, village settlements—Arowhenns, Ir ; Orari, sa. Total acreage sold, 90a 3r 2lp. Total cash received, £233 5s 3d. Refunds on account of former purchases were made in the amount of £122 14s Sd. COMMERCIAL TELEGRAMS. Napier, March 31. At Hoadley and Lyon’s fifth wool sale there was a largo catalogue. 837 bales and pockets were offered, the chief being scoured merino. The biddings were animated, and prices ranged up to Is 9-id for merino and Is 5d for crossbred. Mr Miller’s sale of the Rissington estate on the 30th of April is attracting considerable attention. The block comprises _ nearly 900 square miles, extending over 400 miles of boundary, and includes every variety of country. It is divided into twenty-eight runs and farms. Owing to such a large area being thrown into the market at one time, prices are certain to rule low when compared with recent sales.
