[renter's telegrams.] MELBOURNE, March 28. Rain at LastRain is now falling in most parts of the colony, and the long continued drought is now believed to have broken np. The Hew Agent General. A farewell banquet was given to-night to Mr. Murray Smith, who shortly proceeds to London as Agent-General. There was a large attendance at the dinner, including many leading politicians, and the affair passed off most successfully. Shipping. Sailed, this afternoon The Union Company's steamship Hero for the Bluff. SYDNEY, March 28. Steamer Ashore. The Australian Steam Navigation Company's steamship City of Adelaide ran ashore in the harbor to-day, at Bradley's Head, during a heavy fog. She is expected to be got off safely at high water. The Miners' Dispute. In consequence of the failure of negotiations between the Agricultural Company's coal miners and the manager, the former have announced their determination to resist any raductions in the rate of wages and their refusal of the terms offered by the manager. Shipping. Arrived, this afternoon—Union Company's steamship Rotorua from Auckland.
