CANTERBURY AGRICULTURAL RETURNS.

Tho annual returns of agricultural statistics for the past year are now ready, the totals of which for the various counties will he found "below. COUNTY OF ASHLEY. Holdings—Freehold, 739 ; rented, 304; part rented and part freehold, 195 ; total holdinga, 1238. Laud broken np, hut not under crop, 9931 acres. m wheat —30,406 acres ; yield, 615,842 bushels. In oats—For green food and hay, 1645 acres j for grain, 17,179 acres; yield, 369,171 bushels. In barley—lßso acres ; yield, 39,037 bushels. In grasses—For hay, 2550 acres ; yield, 3592 tons ; in grasses on ploughed, land, 75,024 acres ; in grasses on unplonghed land, 33,560 acres. Potatoes—l 629 acres ; yield, 9857 tons. In rye or bore—--25 acres. In peas or beans In turnips or rape—l3,9oß acros. In mangold, beet, carrots, parsnips, or onions—33s acres, garden or orchard—623 acres. Any other crop—--107 acres. Total land in crop, 178,548 acres. Last year's crops—Wheat, 4852 bushels ; oats, 4787 bushels ; barley, 845 bushels. COUNTY OF AKAKOA. Holdings—Freehold, 305 acres ; rented, 81 acres; part rented and part freehold, 45 ; total holdings, 437. Ijaud broken up, hut not under crop, 40 acres. In wheat, 1318 acres ; yield, 43,575 bushels.
