THE EXHIBITION.

Teie&.'ams have been received by the promoters from the heads of the various public departments at Wellington applying for space for exhibits. Several British exhibitors have arrived at Adelaide by the Orient Company's steamer en rente for Christchuach. They also telegreph asking for space. Consequently the promoters have determined that all intending exhibitors to whom space has been alloted 'must commence operations in thf ir bays not later than the Ist of April, or the space they have taken up will be considered forfeited. Owing to the presure of business in the building, and the number of hands at work, it has been found necessary to close the building to the public, and from this time to person will be admitted into the building on any pretence whatever without a pass from the Becretar7, whose offi :e is on the right hand side of the main entrance of the structure. The water colors for the Bpecial art gallery, which arrived a few days since by the Albion, hive been safely received in the Exhibition building, and the oil paintings are expected tomorrow by the Rotomahana. A magnificent glass case is in course of erection in the British section, nnder Mr Dilworth's supervision. It will be 150 ft in length, sft in height, and 3ft in breadth. It will be picked ont in black and gold, and stopped with plate glass. A meeting of the various ironworkers was held at the Wellington Hotel on last evening. Mr Sneddon was elected president, Mr Prince vice-president, Mr Darry treasurer, Mr Watts secretary, and Mr Sneddon was appointed marshal on behalf of the trade. It was resolved "That members of the various shops hand in to the seoretary by Thursday night next the probable number of tickets required." It was also resolved " That eaoh shop be requested to make what arrangements they thirk fit with regard to banners, mottoes, models, &■}., for the Exhibition prooession, and that Mr Sneddon be appointed to act on behalf of the committee with the other trades and friendly societies as delegate."
