Interesting Parliamentary ItemsIn the House of Lords to-day, a Bill, introduced by Earl Redesdale, requiring that members of Parliament upon taking the customary oath of allegiance should declare their belief in God, was rejected on the motion for the second reading without a division. Iu the House of Commons to - day a motion granting a sum of £IO,OOO as an annuity to Prince Leopold, on the occasion of his approaching marriage to the Princess Helena of Waldeck, was carried, on a division, by a considerable majority. The minority, numbering forty-two, consisted of Radicals and Parnellite members. WASHINGTON, March 23. Protection in its Worst Phase. The House of Representatives has passed the Chinese Exclusion Bill, which was recently voted by the Senate. The measure entirely prohibits Chinese immigration for twenty years, and only permits Chinese officials, merchants, students, and travellers to enter the United States.
