1.0.G.T.

To the Editor of the Globe.

Sir.—l crave your kind permission for the Insertion of these few lines in your most influential journal. The subject, as you see, is Good Templarhm. A friend of mine and myself joined the Rainbow Lodge, No. 13, in Port Lyttelton, a f«w weeks back, and enjoyed the society of the brothers and Bisters connected with the Lodge, until last Tuesday evening, the 22nd, when a circumstance occurred in the said Lodjze which I think should be made public. Two ladles resident in this port, who have been indefatigable in the means of getting seamen and others to join the order, were suddenly and without any previous notice denied the privilege of visiting the Lodge on tbe plea that as they were members of the Liberator Lodge in Christchurch they were not authorised to visit the Rainbow Lodge, No. 13, in Lyttelton. A further and most scandalous objection was raised as to their behaving improperly whilst in the Lodge, which I can safely say is not true. The question was put to ballot in the most unfair and offhand manner postible, no notice having been given to the brethren as to which color ball excluded the visitors until the balloting was nearly over and most of the brethren being seamen and consequently ignorant of the rulos of decision by ballot, the decision was against them, and they were told to leave. Now, is that a fair sample of brotherly love and unity? I say it Is not. I should! be ashamed to hold up my head in society if I had committed so gross an outrage of it laws. I hope to be supported by some of my brothers who, if they have one atom of gentlemanly feeling in them, will at ones leave the Lotfge where suoh insulting practices are carried on by certain persons who, I think, ought to be rejected from the Baid Lodge. Yours truly, JOHN H. BRISTOW, Ship Roman Empire,
