Skinner and Co’s London and China lino, was suocee-fully launched on January 21st by her builders, U issrs John Elder and Co., of Fairfield, Gorm, the enromony of naming the vessel having been gracefully performed by Miss Reed of Onslow Gardens, Sonth Kensington. This fine steamer is 43Gft in lengt , 50ft beam, 33ft iu depth, and registers about 4500 tons gross, and will be. fitted by her builders with a set of engines of their well known three-cylinder type to isdioato 7000 horse power. Tho engines are constructed to propel the vea 9 el at the rate of 18 knots, s * that rhe ia expected to carry the first Leas from China to London in the unprecedentedly short period of four weeks, or possibly loss.
