OHBISTCHUBOH. Tuesday, March 21. [Before B. Beotham, Esq., R.M.] Civil Casks. —Maim v Fdlloon, claim £4 2s, judgment for plaintiff for £2 ss, with costs. Judgments wont for plaintiffs by default in Green v Edmonds, 18s ; Brady and Co. v Scott, £7 3s 83 ; Temperance Hotel Company v Johnston, £l4 6s 93 ; Wilson v Higgins, £1 11s 7d ; Meyer v Davis, £2 4s ; and Brown, Ewing and do. v George, £l4 3s. Judgment was for defendant in Gersohawiki v Gerrchawski, 15s. Longuet v Powell was adjourned till March 251 h. Wednesday, March 22. [Before It. Beetham, Eiq., E.M.J Drunkenness. —For this offence Patrick Byan, Margaret Clark, Thomas Pardoe, Isabella Decile and Ada Gilbert were fined each 10s, or in default to be imprisoned for forty-eight hours with hard labor. Mary Bennett and two men were fined each sj, or in default to be imprisoned for twenty-four hours. An Unhappy Family. John Hall, who is under order of the Court to pay for the separate maintenance of his wife and six children at tbo rate of fifteen shillings par week, applied for the amount to be reduced, on the ground of his inability from poverty to keep up his payments. Mr Thomas, on the part of Mrs Hall, opposed. Ho stated that applicant when the order was made and at the present time was a hydropathist; he had deserted his wife and family, and was living with another woman. His wife was quite unable to keep herself and children on what sho received from her husband ; she was also getting assistance from the Charitable Aid department. Mr Holmes appeared for the applicant, who stated that fur the past six months he had not earned more than £1 per week. She had persuaded her son to leave him, which was a loss to him of £1 10a per weak. Tbo son now paid £1 per week to bis mother. Applicant bad nothing to do with tho woman mentioned by Mr Thomas except professionally ; she assisted him with female patients. Ho had very few patients, and he intended to give up the business. Robert Hal), son of the parties, corroborated his father’s statement. His mother had a very bad temper. He bad to leave her house on that account. His mother was unable, beoaura of bad health, to do any work. Hannah Cox deposed that she acted for applicant as bath woman when required ; that was all tho relations between them. Mrs Hall stated that she had been obliged to send her son away on account of his bad behaviour'. She had B'x others beside him, ranging from fifteen years to one year old. Nono of them were earning anything. The Magistrate said although there appeared to be faults on both sides, the woman seetnmS to be of a violent temper, he declined to vary tho order. She had a large family, and her husband must take his share of tho responsibilities ho had created, Application dismissed. Lunacy from Drink,— Adonis was sent to Addington gaol for eight days for medical treatment, he appearing to bo suffering from tho effects of dissipation.
