GBSYMOUTH BAOE3. [PBEBB ASSOCIATION TBLRQBAM.I OBEY MOUTH, March 20. The races to day were attended by abont a 1000 persons. The weather was fine till 4 p.m., when showers fell. The following are the results :
Goldfields Handicap, 100 sovs.; 1J- miles, Satellite, Bst 1 Bore, 7st 71b 2 Talent, Bst 101 b 3
It was a rather slow race. Young Freeth rode Satellite, and won the race in fine style Hdbdle Handicap Back, 40 sovs.; 2 miles. Mr Freeth’s Hick, 9st 101 b 1 Mrßrimble’s Whalebone, Bst 121 b 2 Mr Osborne’s Shark, 9st 121 b ... 3
Every jump was taken cleanly, and Hick won by three lengths. Obey Valley Stakes Handicap, 60 sovs ; If miles. longlands, 9-t 71b ... 1 Satellite, Sat 71b 2 Mary Stuart, 7st 101 b 3
A capital race. Longlands was at first far in the rear, and people thought ho was quite out of it. About half a mile from home he began to come up, and went through the field with extraordinary ease, and osme in a winner. Hack Race Handicap, 10 sovs ; 1| miles. Nikau, 10st 71b 1 Native, Bst 51b 2 Snowdrop, 9st 71b ... ... ... 3 Forced Handicap, 20 sovs.; H miles. Mr Freeth declared to win with Mary Stuart but Dick won rather easily, Wikan being second, and Mary Stuart third. Much dissatisfaction was felt, and a great many people thought Mary Stuart should have won.
