LICENSING COMMITTEE.
AVON, The first meeting of the new Licensing Committee for the Avon district was held at noon yesterday, at tho Boad Board office, Upper Biocarton. Present —Messrs Weatenra, H. J. Hall, W. H. Lane, 8. Bailey, and R. J, Harman,
It was announced that Mr Harman had been elected chairman of the committee.
An application from Mr O. Aymes for a conditional license in respect of the Canterbury Saleyards was granted. On the application of Messrs Jonbert and Twopeny, the committee decided to issue four licenses for the Exhibition, on conditions to be approved hereafter. Mr Thomas Free applied for a general license in respect of the Bower Hotel, New Brighton, and submitted plans for an enlargement of the present building. The committee said they were inclined to take a favorable view of the application, and would consider it at the annual meeting, provided the police report was favorable. The committee then adjourned.
