ARRIVAL OP THE S S. AICAEOA FEOM CHATHAM ISLANDS. The steamer Akaroa, in charge of Captain Dnnsford, marine surveyor for the United Insurance Association, arrived this morning at ten o’clock from the Chatham Islands. The steamer was despatched by her agents, Messrs Kinsey, Ward and Co., at the instance of the United Insurance offices for the purpose of fatting information about the brigantine Maria irgioia, which put into the Chatham Islands lately, ns reported, for repairs. She had 300 tons of sugar on board, and was bound from Peru to Lyttelton. When the Akaroa got down there, viz ,in sixty hours after leaving Lyttlolton, it was found that 27) tons of her cargo had been landed and stored. It had not suffered much by way of damage The brigantine was towed round to Whangaroa harbor, and carpenters set to work to repair her. The vessel was dismantled than down to her lower masts, so that it weald take some days to get her ready for sea. Arrangements were made whereby the brigantine will be brought to Lyttelton in charge of Captain Chapman, giving Captain Sauri, the master of the vessel, an opportunity to come to Lyttelton by the steamer Akaroa. He end his supercargo were passengers by that vessel this morning. It was also arranged for the brigantine to taka 25 tons or the requisite quantity of ballast in, and to come on to Lyttelton with that and the 30 tons of sngar she had not lauded, and not to reload her cargo again. The brigantine Omaha was engaged to bring up the 270 tons of sngar, and she was expected to leave the Chathams about the 22n3 instant, as she had some wool to bring up, but would probably take as well 80 tons of sugar of the 270 tons. The balance of the cargo would be brought over next trip. Particulars will be found elsewhere of an attempted murder at the Islands, news of which was brought by the Akaroa.
